Ficus carica (Fig 'Celeste')
$ 29.00
‘Celeste’ Fig produces medium-sized fruit with smooth, light brown to violet colored skin. The underside of the fruit has a very small, tightly closed hole or “eye” which prevents fruit rot from bugs and moisture entering the fruit. ‘Celeste’ fruit has a rich, sweet flavor, and has excellent fresh dessert quality. It is a great processing fig, either frozen or processed as fig preserves. ‘Celeste’ is one of the most cold-hardy varieties.
It is best not to prune mature Celeste trees heavily because this can reduce the crop. ‘Celeste’ prefers well-draining soil and does best in full sun to part sun. The fruit will droop when fully ripe and may even split slightly when ready for harvest.
